UMassGives 2025 Sees Record Number of Gifts

The UMass Amherst community united to support what they love.

April 29 and 30 marked the 12th annual UMassGives, a campus-wide fundraising event during which more than 9,400 ambassadors came together to support what they love across UMass Amherst. This generous community of alumni, parents, students, staff, and friends raised over $2.7 million for their favorite departments, student groups, scholarships, academic centers, and programs.

Donors from 49 states and 42 countries made a combined total of more than 11,300 gifts—the most ever during UMassGives! Their gifts supported more than 320 different areas across campus, ensuring that UMass students continue to experience an outstanding education at the state’s flagship campus—regardless of their major, academic interest, or extracurricular activities.

Each year, UMassGives Power Hours offer the chance for groups to earn additional funding by attracting the most donors during each designated hour. This year, groups like the Student Alumni Association, the Daily Collegian, the Stonewall Center, and men’s club rowing were among those to collect bonus money thanks to Power Hours.

Men's club rowing won its Power Hour with 290 gifts—the highest of any group in a Power Hour—and also placed first in the Club Sports Challenge. Together, these wins brought in an extra $3,000 for the team, for a total of $14,439 raised. Altogether, men's club rowing received 387 gifts, an increase of 33 percent over last year and an exciting show of support for the team.

Generous challenges and matching donations, ranging from $500 to $500,000, offered additional motivation. These completed challenges resulted in additional funding for areas such as the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund; the field hockey and women’s soccer programs; and scholarships, research, and programs across schools and colleges, including the College of Natural Sciences (CNS), which nearly tripled the number of gifts received compared to previous years.

CNS credits this year’s results to increased engagement from alumni and students, including on-campus tabling events and class visits that happened throughout the two days of UMassGives. They also leveraged 17 different challenges and matching gifts to build excitement and incentivize giving. In addition, the CNS Dean’s Advisory Board helped drive the college’s success, leading the way with 100 percent participation among board members.

Whether you supported scholarships, research, athletics, or another area, your gift during UMassGives made a big impact. Thank you for helping UMass Amherst advance education, discovery, and community, now and for future generations.
