Get Ready for UMassGives 2024

This 48-hour online giving campaign motivates alumni, parents, and friends to support what they’re most passionate about on campus.

What can the UMass Amherst community do when it comes together for a common cause? UMassGives 2024 provides the perfect opportunity to find out!

What is UMassGives? This two-day online giving campaign allows alumni, parents, and friends to provide funding for the departments, student groups, academic centers, and programs that mean the most to them.

When is UMassGives? The campaign begins at 12:01 a.m. EDT on April 24 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on April 25.

Last year, more than 9,000 donors contributed more than $2 million to this effort. Their collective generosity translated into more scholarship support, more experiential learning opportunities, and more ways for our students to reach their full potential.

When you participate in UMassGives, your gift becomes part of something bigger. Each gift serves as an inspiration to others and a building block. Together, they construct the foundation for an exceptional student experience at the state’s flagship campus.

This is particularly true during the campaign’s Power Hours. The group that brings in the most gifts during a Power Hour earns an additional $2,000 for their cause. The second- and third-place finishers get $500 each. Donors can also create challenges, where a certain number of gifts will trigger an additional donation.

One of the best things about UMassGives is that robust participation from the UMass Amherst community lets students know others are invested in their success.

“We centered students in our approach to UMassGives, showcasing how funding goes directly to students through scholarships and programming,” says Tegan Oliver ’23, who led 2023 fundraising efforts for UMass Women into Leadership (UWiL), a professional development program that prepares students for public leadership. “The UMass community cares about students above everything, so it was great to see our message resonate with people.”

UMass Women into Leadership is just one of the many programs and organizations that boosted its capacity to support students through UMassGives. The group raised more than $46,000 from 163 donors last year, providing students with scholarship funding for unpaid summer internships, registration and travel support for regional and national policy conferences, an on-campus leadership workshop, and other valuable programming.

“Those who donate to UMass Women into Leadership directly empower students’ futures in a unique way,” says Oliver, who is now a first-year student at George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. “UWiL changes the lives of the students who participate, through mentorship, concrete skills, and opportunities to see what their futures can be.”

This kind of discovery and growth is happening for students in every corner of the university. Whether you want to support scholarships, athletics programs, internships and undergraduate research opportunities, performance groups, or public service, UMassGives is your chance to support the experiences that are most important to you.

So, spread the word! Let friends and family know what motivates you to support UMass Amherst and the impact your collective generosity can have on our students’ futures.

We hope to see you on April 24 and 25 at umassgives.org.
